When does Rural Route Bulbs open for the season?

Our Fall Creek flower farm will re-open in the spring of 2026. Tulips will be available for You-Pick, and pre-cut bouquets and floor and hanging baskets will be available. Floor and hanging baskets will include flowers that are full season annuals. The 2026 season will bring much more: more flowers, more events, more fun!
What should I wear to Rural Route Bulbs?
The month of May can bring all kinds of ground conditions, so bring boots or shoes that you don’t mind getting a little muddy.
How does You-Pick work?
For our pick-your-own tulips, stop by the garden area to pick up a mason jar and some scissors. Head out to the flowers and pick your favorite tulips, cutting them low to the ground to get a long stem, since you’ll want to re-cut them before putting them in a vase. Pricing is $20 per mason jar.
Can I sit amongst the flowers?
Yes! You are welcome to enjoy the garden with picnic blankets or chairs – we just ask that you bring your own.
Can I take photos?
Of course! The tulip and flower field is a scenic spot, so take as many photos as you like. Alongside your photography, tag our location and feel free to tag us too! We’re @rrbulbs on Instagram and Rural Route Bulbs on Facebook. If you’re going to be taking professional photos, please call Jody at 507-380-6291 to schedule a time to do so. We also offer professional photos with our in-house photographer, Kari Pritzl! You can schedule 1 hour sessions or 15 minute mini sessions by clicking on each link, or visit her full website here.
Can I bring my pet?
No pets, please.
Will Rural Route Bulbs be handicap accessible?
The field will be handicap accessible in 2026.
Where do I park?
Please park in the area near the garden that is designated for parking. Parking in other areas is prohibited due to farm planting operations. The surrounding area is a working farm that uses heavy machinery which may be entering and exiting different parts of the farm. For your safety and the health of the rest of the farm, please stay in the garden area.
What’s the best way to keep my flowers fresh once I’m home?
When you get home, re-cut the tulip stems at a 45 degree angle for better water absorption. Fill a clean vase with fresh, cold water and place the tulips in, removing leaves below the water line. A tall, narrow vase will keep them from bending too much, but they will droop over time, as their flowery heads are heavy. To keep them fresh the longest, keep them away from direct sunlight and heat to avoid wilting and replace the water with fresh, cold water every day or two. We hope you enjoy your new flowery friends!
